Rümlang ZH/Seefeld, June 2026

Dormakaba has announced the acquisition of the software developer Airsphere GmbH, based in Seefeld near Munich. According to a press release, the acquisition, which took effect on 18 May 2026, enables the Rümlang-based company – which operates globally in the locking technology sector – to expand its portfolio in the airport sector to include established software solutions for the automation of passenger processes, airport logistics and the security of critical infrastructure.

The broader product portfolio will drive global market growth for the company in the airport sector. “Our aim is to further improve passenger processes at airports and with airlines through increased efficiency,” said Till Reuter, CEO of dormakaba.

Airsphere specialises in passenger management systems. More than 250 airports worldwide use the software developed by Airsphere to automate passenger processes. The eGate software is deployed at over 8,000 eGates; more than 1 billion travellers are served by Airsphere on arrival and departure, according to the announcement.

Dormakaba offers door solutions, including locks, door fittings, door automation, access control systems and mechanical locking systems, which, according to the company, are supplied to 130 countries. The company expects consolidated earnings per share to rise from the first day of the acquisition. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the transaction.
