Limmattal. Room for more.
With a refined strategy, concrete location development projects, and a new brand identity, Limmatstadt AG is positioning itself as a driving force in a strong region. The Limmat Valley is leveraging its dynamic location between Zurich and Baden to further raise its profile as an innovative business and living environment.
The Limmat Valley is one of Switzerland’s most dynamic development regions. For years, an urban living and business area has been emerging between the economic hubs of Zurich and Baden, combining innovation, sustainable growth, and a high quality of life. International companies, strong SMEs, research institutions, and excellent transportation links—including the Limmattalbahn—make the region an attractive location for investors, businesses, and new ideas.
Developing the region together
With its strategic realignment, Limmatstadt AG is strengthening its role as a regional promoter and connecting hub for municipalities, business, and society. The goal is to drive the development of the Limmat Valley forward in an even more coordinated, visible, and effective manner in the future. At the heart of this is the shared vision: “Together, we are shaping a strong Limmat Valley and creating space for more.”
The new strategy is based on a broadly supported development process involving representatives from municipalities, cantons, the business community, and other stakeholders. It reflects the recognition that location promotion must now be understood as a collaborative effort. In the future, the Limmat Valley should increasingly pool its strengths across municipal and cantonal boundaries and implement joint projects with concrete and visible added value.
In addition to proven location marketing (business attraction, networking events, communication, and much more), Limmatstadt AG is increasingly focusing on location development.
In the future, targeted projects will be initiated and supported to sustainably strengthen the region’s economic performance, innovative capacity, and quality of life. These include, among other things, the development
joint communication channels, greater visibility for regional flagship projects, and initiatives to promote skilled workers, knowledge exchange, and cluster formation.
The strategy is being put into practice
.Just how concrete this reorientation is can be seen in ongoing projects: In March 2026, the digital regional event calendar for the Limmat Valley was launched—a central platform that aggregates and makes events from across the region accessible. At the same time, regional communication channels are being reviewed, and work is underway with municipalities, the business sector, and cultural organizations to develop financially viable and sustainable models. Another key area of focus is the commitment to promoting regional vocational training—a concrete contribution to securing a long-term supply of skilled workers in the Limmattal.
The Limmat Valley in particular offers ideal conditions for this. With innovation hubs like Schlieren, significant development areas along the Limmat, and a close network of business, education, and research, the region has great potential for the future. At the same time, awareness of a shared regional identity is growing. This is further strengthened by the new brand identity “Limmattal. Room for more.”
A network with impact
With over 130 members and 14 member municipalities, the regional business development organization offers a strong, supra-regional network spanning business, the public sector, politics, culture, and society.
This reorientation underscores Limmatstadt AG’s commitment to strengthening the Limmat Valley as an independent, competitive, and livable economic region in the long term and to further developing it in collaboration with the region’s stakeholders.
