Handover of the baton in Zug

There is an important personnel change at the Zug Economic Development Agency. After more than thirteen years at the helm of the Business Contact Point, Beat Bachmann is retiring and handing over to Thomas Fuchs. The new head will be supported by Sandro Jörg and in future also by a trainee, with the aim of further strengthening Zug as a business location and preparing it for future challenges.

May 2026

An era comes to an end
Beat Bachmann has shaped the Business Contact Point for more than a decade. His time in office saw milestones such as the development of the large LG, Papieri, Suurstoffi and Städtler Allmend sites, the creation of Crypto Valley and the establishment of clusters in life sciences and supply chain. He was a reliable contact for investors and entrepreneurs and was a valued sparring partner for the cantonal management. His commitment was characterized by service orientation, a high level of professional expertise and a keen sense of the dynamics of the Zug economic region.

New head with international experience
Thomas Fuchs, who has been deputy head of the Business Contact Point since March 2023, will take over as head. He has over twenty years of experience in management positions in the pharmaceutical industry in Switzerland and abroad and knows the needs of global companies as well as those of innovative SMEs. Fuchs wants to build on the proven strengths of Zug’s clusters – life sciences, high-tech, commodities trading, fintech/blockchain – and combine these with future-oriented topics such as cyber security, artificial intelligence and education and innovation initiatives.

Reinforcement by Sandro Jörg
From July 1, Sandro Jörg will join the team as second deputy head. He has many years of international management experience in location, corporate and business development as well as real estate management. Thanks to this expertise, he will play a particularly important role in complex projects, site developments and in cooperation with companies and authorities. The contact point is thus building on a broad leadership team that is closely networked in the business world.

The Business Contact Point as a one-stop store
The Business Contact Point is a department of the Office of Economic Affairs and Labor of the Canton of Zug. It sees itself as a one-stop store for companies based in Zug and for companies wishing to relocate to Zug. The team maintains and opens up networks with key economic players, supports cooperation projects between public and private partners and supports site developments such as Unterfeld Zug/Baar, Tech Cluster Zug, Papieri Cham and Spinnerei Baar. The focus is on business cultivation, location promotion and personal exchange with decision-makers.

Internship wanted from fall 2026
From September 1, 2026, the Business Contact Point will be offering a six-month internship. Interns will gain insights into location marketing, project work and the interfaces between business, administration and politics. Anyone looking to enter the world of business development and get to know the Zug economic region first-hand will find a practical start to their career here.
