Data-driven maintenance is being adopted in new infrastructure projects

DuraMon has fitted Austria’s first underground car park with 160 of its sensors. The company, founded by CEO Yurena Seguí Femenias, thus enables long-term corrosion monitoring and data-driven maintenance. Around half of its projects are in Switzerland, with the remainder mainly in the other DACH countries.

Dietikon ZH/Innsbruck, May 2026

DuraMon AG has successfully completed its latest project: an underground car park in Innsbruck is the first in Austria to feature the sensor technology developed by the spin-off from ETH Zurich, which was founded in 2021. According to a company press release, a monitoring system comprising 160 sensors will monitor the corrosion status of critical areas and provide early warnings should intervention be required. “By focusing on potentially critical zones – such as those with high chloride levels and moisture – the solution enables a deeper understanding of the structure’s condition,” says the young company, which moved into its first premises in Dietikon a year ago.

With DuraMon’s monitoring system, those responsible can determine whether corrosion has already begun in vulnerable areas. “A significant step towards data-driven maintenance,” comments Cem Güzel, Key Account Manager at Sika Austria, on the announcement regarding the completion of the Innsbruck project.

According to the information provided, the Austrian subsidiary of the Swiss specialty chemicals company facilitated the deal with DuraMon. Sika is a key investor in the young company and participated in the early-stage funding rounds in both 2023 and 2025. In its portfolio, the Baar-based company offers DuraMon’s corrosion monitoring services to operators of large infrastructure projects.

DuraMon already has further car park projects in the pipeline. Furthermore, sensors are currently being installed on two retaining walls in Vienna, according to an article on “startupticker.ch” referenced by DuraMon. The eleven-strong team is currently managing 27 ongoing projects. Furthermore, the company has recently won four tenders. Half of its projects are located in Switzerland and the other DACH countries. At the same time, DuraMon is working on further scaling the platform: the automation of data analysis and interpretation processes is intended to increase efficiency and scalability.
