Operation of the waste-to-energy plant in Josefstrasse was discontinued in spring 2021. A development concept was drawn up under the leadership of the Office for Urban Development in order to define what the area should look like in the future. The plan is to expand the work yard, a health center for the elderly in combination with apartments for the elderly, an indoor swimming pool and a neighborhood park. As a basis for the development concept, the city carried out test planning. The development concept makes specifications for the location of buildings and the district park and defines overriding principles for the desired urban planning and urban spatial qualities.
