\u2019 Plans for the site of the<\/strong>former<\/strong>hemp factory include two new residential and commercial buildings, as well as the addition of extra storeys to an existing building. Together, these will provide 38 rental flats and around 740 square metres of commercial space on the ground floor. In addition, there will be an underground car park, green spaces and recreational areas, as well as improved access for pedestrians and cyclists. For the station area, this represents a clear change of use from the former production site to a mixed-use urban block.<\/p>\n
\u2019 This distinction is important from both a political and planning perspective. Bischofszell is simultaneously pushing ahead with the redesign of the station square, including new bus bays. Municipal documents show that this project has been under review for years, partly due to changes in bus service requirements and the need for design improvements. The new \u2018Am Bahnhof\u2019 design plan is being pursued separately but is nevertheless intended to prioritise urban densification in the surrounding area.<\/strong><\/p>\n
