GF<\/a> has secured an order for the new Green Steel plant being built by the steel group SSAB<\/a> in Luleå, Sweden. According to a press release<\/a>, the GF Industry and Infrastructure Flow Solutions division is supplying a turnkey marine water intake system and an onshore piping system for the plant’s cooling water supply.<\/p>\n

SSAB is building an electrified steelworks in Luleå with a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year. The plant is designed to produce high-quality steel products with a lower environmental impact. GF is supplying a system based on the Weholite solution, which transports water to the pumping station on the coast and on to the steelworks’ heat exchangers.<\/p>\n

“This project is closely aligned with our strategic focus on higher-value applications that enable more sustainable industrial processes,” says Thomas Hary, President of GF Industry and Infrastructure Flow Solutions. The project is scheduled to be implemented from the second quarter of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2027.<\/p>\n

The contract was awarded by NYAB, which is involved in the project as a subcontractor. It comprises pipework with diameters ranging from DN 800 to DN 1600 mm and a total length of around 12 kilometres, including fittings.
