The profit has secured the company’s ability to invest, IWB<\/a> states in a press release<\/a> on the 2025 financial year. According to the release, profit remained steady at 149 million Swiss francs, in line with the previous year, whilst turnover fell by 9 per cent to 1.062 billion Swiss francs (previous year: 1.164 billion Swiss francs). Investments increased from CHF 212 million to CHF 226 million compared with the previous year.<\/p>\n

IWB counts a new district heating network in Frick AG, the start of construction of the pipeline network and heating plant in Reinach BL, and the commissioning of a wood pellet plant at the Bahnhof heating plant among last year’s successful projects. In addition, IWB has drawn up its Strategy 2026. On this basis, the Basel-based energy supplier aims to become “more decentralised, digital and even more climate-friendly”.<\/p>\n

In 2025, IWB sold a total of 928 gigawatt-hours of district heating, 8 per cent more than in the previous year. Gas sales fell by 5 per cent to 1,618 gigawatt hours, whilst electricity sales dropped by 14 per cent to 1,067 gigawatt hours. IWB cites “customer losses in the free market” as the reason for this.
