On 17 March, EBL Energie Rigi<\/a> broke ground on the first phase of the expanded district heating network. A new main pipeline will in future connect the Halti-kon energy centre with the existing district heating network in Adligenswil, Lucerne. This will enable the outdated heating plant in Adligenswil to be replaced.\u00a0According to a press release<\/a>, EBL Energie Rigi is thus laying the foundations for a long-term, reliable and renewable heat supply in the region. At the same time, this is intended to meet the growing demand for new district heating connections in Adligenswil and ensure long-term security of supply for all customers. According to current plans, the construction period will be around two years.<\/p>\n

Those attending the ground-breaking ceremony included the Vice-Chair of the Municipal Council, Felicitas Marbach, and members of the Board of Directors of EBL Fernw\u00e4rme Rigi AG.\u00a0\u201cToday\u2019s ground-breaking ceremony is far more than the start of a construction project \u2013 it is a visible sign of a shared energy future. EBL Energie Rigi brings together the expertise of three subsidiaries of EBL (Genossenschaft Elektra Baselland), based in Liestal: EBL Fernw\u00e4rme Rigi AG supplies K\u00fcssnacht am Rigi, Greppen and Adligenswil with CO2-neutral district heating. EBL Energiezentrum Rigi AG produces electricity and heat from regional waste wood and wood residues.
