According to a press release<\/a>,Z\u00fcrich Wind<\/a> will begin wind measurements in Z\u00fcnikon, in the municipality of Wiesendangen, during the week of 16 March. The 125-metre-high mast does not need to be connected to the electricity grid. It is powered entirely by solar panels and a battery storage system. Two further measurement masts are to be erected in Ossingen and Rickenbach after the Easter holidays.<\/p>\n

The masts are to collect data on wind conditions and bat activity at their locations for at least one year. This data will form the basis for a yield forecast. If this indicates that the use of wind energy at this location is economically viable, Z\u00fcrich Wind will commission an environmental impact assessment as the next step.<\/p>\n

Z\u00fcrich Wind publishes the measurement data on its website. \u201cZ\u00fcrich Wind is one of the first project developers in the Swiss wind energy sector to publish wind measurement data as early as the data collection phase,\u201d says Pascal M\u00fcller of Z\u00fcrich Wind in the press release.<\/p>\n
