Swiss Renewables AG<\/a>, based in Zug, and aventron AG<\/a>, based in M\u00fcnchenstein, want to move closer together. According to a statement<\/a>, the two renewable energy producers are exploring the possibility of closer cooperation. Their aim is to exploit synergies and better tap into the potential for further expansion of renewable electricity generation.<\/p>\n

Both companies are subsidiaries of Swiss municipal and regional utilities. Aventron was founded in 2005 by the former Elektra Birseck M\u00fcnchenstein, now Primeo Energie<\/a>. In 2010, Energie Wasser Bern (ewb<\/a>) acquired a stake in the company, followed by the city of Winterthur in 2013 through its municipal utility<\/a>. Together, they now hold 63.3 per cent of the company. Aventron has interests in hydro, wind and solar power plants with an installed capacity of 826 megawatts in Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Norway.<\/p>\n

Swisspower Renewables, founded in 2011, is a subsidiary of Swisspower. Eleven members of Swisspower, including ewb and Stadtwerk Winterthur, as well as UBS Clean Energy Infrastructure Switzerland 2 as a strategic financial investor, hold stakes in the company. Swisspower<\/a> is an association of 20 municipal utilities.
