The R2-D2 project by Guerra Clauss Garin Architekten from Basel has won the tender for a new office building on the corner of Schanzenstrasse and Spitalstrasse in Basel. The Botnar Research Center for Child Health ( BRCCH<\/a> ) of the University of Basel<\/a> and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich ( ETH<\/a> ) will move in there, according to a press release<\/a> .<\/p>\n

The BRCCH will be located in the immediate vicinity of the Basel University Hospital, the Basel<\/a> Children's University Hospital<\/a> and the Schällemätteli Life Sciences Campus. It is intended to expand the pediatric and adolescent medicine cluster<\/span> and "develop into the leading application-oriented research institute for child and adolescent health" over the next few years. The canton of Basel-Stadt<\/a> is building the building on its own.<\/p>\n

The project competition was won unanimously by Guerra Clauss Garin Architects. They are now revising their designs for the low-emission and sustainable research building based on the jury's recommendations. The preliminary project will then be created with detailed information on costs, deadlines and standards, according to the press release.<\/p>\n
