The Swiss Energypark, founded in 2016 on the initiative of Bern-based BKW Energie AG<\/a> and the cantons of Bern and Jura, produces electricity in the Juvent<\/a> wind power plant, the Mont-Soleil<\/a> solar power plant and the La Goule<\/a> hydropower plant on the Doubs. The region, which corresponds to the supply area of La Goule, was able to cover 86 percent of its needs with local renewable energy from sustainable sources, according to the announcement. Such a quota is unique in Switzerland at this level.<\/p>\n

In the communication from Energypark and BKW it is pointed out that the supplied region is suitable as a test field for future developments in energy supply. Because the energy mix of wind power, hydropower and solar energy leads to the compensation of underproduction in one of the sectors. The Juvent wind power plant generated almost 85 gigawatt hours in 2020, which is the highest value ever achieved at a location in Switzerland and corresponds to the consumption of around 18,900 households.
